Forest conservation should begin at home, and every student should develop the habit of planting trees, said Forest Range Officer Nazia. She was the chief guest at the International Forest Day celebrations held at SVN Digital High School in Yadagirigutta on Friday. The event was presided over by the school’s founder, Gottiparthi Bhaskar.

Speaking on the occasion, Nazia emphasized that environmental balance is being disrupted due to deforestation, leading to global warming, excessive rainfall, and droughts. She warned that if large-scale afforestation initiatives are not undertaken immediately, the future would be alarming. She also pointed out that significant changes in water levels in rivers and oceans are taking place, which is not a positive development

“The Clean and Green initiatives taken by SVN have deeply impressed me. The dedication shown by this school towards environmental protection is inspiring, and I hope other schools will take inspiration from this,” Nazia said. She praised the systematic approach being taken by the institution to instill the importance of afforestation among students. She extended special appreciation to the school management and Director Vruthik for their efforts and also congratulated the teachers and students.

Presiding over the event, school founder Gottiparthi Bhaskar highlighted the need for a sustainable lifestyle. He urged everyone to take responsibility for environmental conservation and encouraged students to take the lead in afforestation efforts. He cited the example of Vanajeevi Ramayya and his wife from Reddypalli village in Khammam district, who dedicated their lives to forest conservation. He noted that Ramayya did not plant trees for accolades like the Padma Shri award but out of genuine concern for expanding and protecting forests. Bhaskar stressed that true success is measured not by wealth but by the positive impact one has on society. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from Ramayya’s selfless work in spreading awareness about afforestation and distributing saplings.

Living in Harmony with Nature: Principal Madhuri Gottiparthi

School Principal Madhuri Gottiparthi spoke about the importance of the ecosystem. She explained that preserving nature ensures biodiversity conservation and highlighted the interdependence between humans and the environment. She mentioned that for the past 29 years, the school has been implementing environmental protection initiatives that students can practice at home as well.

SVN’s Efforts to Combat Global Warming: Director Vruthik

School Director Gottiparthi Vruthik elaborated on the impacts of global warming and emphasized the need for urgent action. He encouraged students to contribute to mitigating climate change by planting trees, reducing plastic usage, and adopting eco-friendly lifestyles. He urged students to cultivate an eco-conscious mindset from a young age.

To mark the occasion, various competitions were organized at the school.

Essay Writing Competitions on International Forest Day

In the essay writing competition, 7th-grade student K. Vaishnavi won first prize, while J. Kavitha secured second place.

In the poster-making competition, Bhanu Priya and Tejasree won the first prize.

9th-grade students Varshini and Dhrithi emphasized that environmental protection should be everyone’s responsibility and that awareness should extend beyond the classroom.

Prize Distribution and Environmental Pledge

Forest Range Officer Nazia distributed prizes to the students who excelled in the competitions. As part of the event, 9th-grade student and Environmental Club Captain Sanaya led students in taking the “Go Green Pledge,” committing to protecting nature and promoting greenery.

The International Forest Day celebrations at SVN Digital High School successfully raised awareness about environmental conservation among students, inspiring them to work towards a greener future.

The event was attended by forest department officials Parvathi, Kalyani, and Mahesh, among others.
